PAMPER WEDNESDAY: GATINEAU AQUAMEMORY REVIEW.

 This week, I tried out a product from Gatineau's Aquamemory range. Particularly at this time of year, as the temperature rises, we tend to lose hydration in our skin very quickly. Gatineau's Osmaporine technology helps to quickly restore that hydration and delay the signs of ageing significantly.

The picture on the left here was taken first thing in the morning, after I used Gatineau's Moisture Replenish Mask, which they sent me to try out. I can honestly say that this is the clearest and smoothest my skin has been...ever.


 The mask is fairly translucent, and applies to the skin like a gel. You can expect a little tingling, and it feels quite cool on the skin.

I like to apply a mask, leave it on while I watch an episode of one of the TV shows that I like to watch (around 20 minutes) and then rinse off.

After rinsing, I was left with some reddish patches, as you can see in the bottom picture here, but you can already see that my skin is much smoother. (This picture has not been retouched or had filters applied)

The redness took approximately an hour to go away completely, and I was left with beautiful, soft skin.

I've now added this mask to my regular routine and will continue to use it.

It's a little on the high end of the price tag line, but I think at $65, you really are getting what you've paid for with this product.

SPRING FLING: KATY'S SPRING ESSENTIALS

Spring has most definitely sprung and I'm ready for a bit of a change up in my makeup routine as the months get warmer.

Here are a few of my essential items for spring, and heading into summer:

Number one, hands down, and without a doubt is sunscreen. I have very fair, sun-sensitive skin. Having now traveled overseas as an adult, I can definitely say that the sunshine we get here is so much harsher than other places, even in Texas, where it's like an oven 9 months of the year, I just didn't feel the sun beating down on me like I do at home. Dylan Moran famously jokes in his stand-up routine that Australia is three quarters of a mile away from the sun.
I like Neutrogena's Ultra Sheer dry touch sunblock. It's SPF 70, and it has one of the less-greasy feels. Every sunblock is going to feel like sunblock on your skin. There's just no getting around it. I think we just have to sacrifice a tiny bit in the warmer months especially, to have our skin protected.

Next is Red Velvet soap from The Soap Bakery (Vic). These guys are in the process of getting their website up and running, but can be found at local farmers markets around Melbourne. I highly recommend a trip out to one of the local markets to smell their awesome scents. My favourites right now are Red Velvet and Chai.


Super awesome for spring are these Lonvitalite cloth facial and hand masks. They allow you to take a 20 minute break to take care of your skin. Springtime is a really beautiful time of year, but there are so many allergens in the air! Take the time to give your skin a break and a bit of rehab with their awesome masks.



Every girl needs a really fantastic lip treatment, and I've found one of the best. Sukin's nourishing lip treatment is absolutely beautiful, and very reasonably priced. It keeps my lips soft and nourished, and I'm always happy about that.

Looking for a bit of extra oomph without wearing really heavy false lashes? I love Eylure naturalites. They are lightweight, natural-looking lashes that will give you just a touch of extra pizazz without weighing down your eyes. Perfect for warmer weather.






As it starts to heat up, I like to go for a less-heavy approach to makeup, and my lips are a great place to start. Switching heavy lipsticks for Revlon Lip Butter in Peach Parfait, or Kissable Balm Stain in Honey, are a couple of my perfect ways to finish a springtime look.






Keeping it light is something I'll also switch to for my eye makeup, so I switch up from my heavy mascaras to something a little lighter, and Rimmel Lash Accelerator Endless mascara is a really good one for giving length and definition without weighing down the lashes.





Next up, for lightening the look on my face, Revlon's new Nearly Naked foundation is perfect for springtime wear. A gorgeous, lightweight coverage, which can be worn alone for a dewy look, or with the pressed powder for a more matte finish, it won't leave your skin feeling cakey at all, which is awesome when the heat increases.




Last of all, my nail polish picks for spring are mostly lighter colours, some neons and pastels, but definitely keeping it a bit lighter and brighter than your usual winter nails is the way to go. I love these colours from Sinful Colors, OPI and Sephora by OPI.

PAMPER TIME! LONVITALITE COLLAGEN EYE MASK REVIEW

 This week, I'm all about relaxing. After a break from medication to control my anxiety (because I needed pain meds more urgently for my leg), I'm at the point where everything is just a little too stressful, and I need to concentrate on balancing out the anxiety again.

I'm getting my body used to the meds again,(over the counter sleep aids, which help tremendously - it's amazing what a decent night's sleep will do for a body), and I'm taking some time out to just relax and take care of myself.

That's where the awesome people at Lonvitalite come in. They have sent me one of every product to have a look at and review, and those of you who have been reading since the beginning already know I'm a massive fan of their products!

This one is my favourite quick-pick-me-up product of theirs, and it's the easiest and least intrusive one. Their C8 collagen crystal eye mask just sits on the face, under the eye, and works its magic there for 10-20 minutes while you chill out and read a book, surf the net, or even just close your eyes and zone out for a bit.

REVIEW: Sukin Organics

As you all know, I recently traveled half way around the world to where it was summertime, ]and as it was winter here at home, my skin was unprepared for the heat.
You can see in the photo, our happy smiles and the city of Austin, Texas in the background. It was a wonderful evening, and I don't think I've ever been quite so content in all my life.

When we got home from our evening at the symphony, I decided I needed a bit of relaxing skin care, so I rummaged through my case and found the goodies I had brought with me from Sukin Organics.

Over the course of the next few days, these products kept me hydrated and blemish-free with the different water and harsh sunshine. I was so glad to have taken them with me.

First up, the foaming facial cleanser absolutely smells divine! Most of Sukin's products have amazing botanical scents, but this one in particular is a favourite of mine. It gives a nice amount of lather, and you only have to use a tiny bit to wash your whole face. It removes makeup and clears pores without stripping away moisture from the skin, and did I mention it has an amazing fragrance, which it leaves on your skin?

Next, their facial moisturizer, which has a slightly different scent to the cleanser, but is also really nice. It goes on very nicely, making my skin feel moisturized, but not smothered. I have a sample of an extremely expensive moisturizer, and I would much rather use my Sukin one every day, because it feels so nice on. The fact that these products are affordable, and botanically sourced, kind to the environment and everyone within it, and Australian made and owned, is the icing on the cake of awesome products for me. I really love it when a product has everything going for it.

Last of all, a product which came in very handy while I was away. We got sunburned, and we were in chlorinated pools a lot, and we went out hiking and all sorts, and my boyfriend suffers with back spasms, so I was really pleased to have Sukin's wellbeing body oil on hand. It has a handy pump top and warms very quickly in your hands. Once again, it has that amazing fragrance, and my man was very happy to have his back rubbed and just relax and take in the scent of the oil. It worked wonders for my burned, dried out shoulders, too. It's a must-have product for me now, which I'll always make sure I have in the house.




All in all, I thoroughly recommend the Sukin Organics range. I know I've recommended their rosehip oil to you guys in the past, and these products live up to my expectations of Sukin products completely.

I've recently been doing some research into "bio" oils, and things which claim to fix scars, psoriasis and other chronic skin conditions, and the one thing that keeps popping up on my radar is Rose Hip.

Amazing skin care from Innoxa! Wrinkle cream that actually works.

About a week ago, I received an amazing care package in the mail from the awesome people at Innoxa. Their Renew skin care range is specifically aimed at ageing skin in the 35+ age range, but at 32, I feel like it's the right choice to keep me looking fresh-faced for as long as possible.

I didn't have a lot to begin with, but the skin around my eyes is noticeably smoother, and where I have a large-ish scar by my left eye, it is actually improving the appearance of the scar, which has been there for almost 30 years!

My scar used to be deep and puckered-looking, but as you can see, it's now barely noticeable. With makeup I can now cover it so that it's hardly visible at all, and though I feel that our scars tell the story of our lives, we are all after a flawless face for special occasions, aren't we?

Below, you can see the range as I used it. The triple action gel wash lives in my shower, and it has tiny little beads in it, as you can see. You only need a tiny bit of this, as it is very thick and goes a long way. It leaves my skin feeling clean and toned.

Then, I use the advanced anti ageing eye creme, very gently, all around my eyes. Again, a little bit goes a long way, and you don't have to use a lot of it to see great results. I should add that I'm only using it once a day. Last of all, the anti-ageing and firming moisture lotion, again in small amounts. 2 pumps out of the bottle is plenty for my thirsty face.
Once that all soaks into my skin, I can go straight over it with my choice of makeup for the day, confident that I'm looking radiant.

Brighter days are coming! Eye brightening tips.

As the mother of two young boys, I often wake up looking a little worse for wear. Dark circles are a major identifying marker in my family, and I'm quite lucky not to have "the Body bags" as a regular feature of my face. How-to: Deal with an allergic reaction.

One thing that lots of us deal with at one time or another is allergic reactions to beauty products.

I experienced this myself for the first time on Wednesday night when I tried out a new cleanser and a wrinkle cream. Immediately after I'd applied it, my skin felt hot and started to sweat, I became very red, and broke out in a lumpy, bumpy rash.

So... when this happens to you, what should you do?

• Don't panic. You're probably not going to die.
• Don't put any other products on the affected area. Instead, just cleanse the area with clean, cool water.
• If you have a cold pack handy, apply it to the affected area to cool down the skin.
• Leave your skin alone for a couple of days and let it settle down by itself.
• You could also take an antihistimine if you have some handy.
• Don't blame the product. In my case, for example, my skin is used to having organic or naturally derived products used on it every day, and this product (s) was a heavy cosmeceutical. My skin basically just went "WHAT THE HELL?" and reacted in a violent manner.

I'm feeling much better now. My skin has settled down, and I'm back on the road to clear skin...and I'm being a little more gentle and cautious.

Review: Dr. LeWinn's facial polishing gel

This month in my bellabox, I received a 50ml sample of Dr. LeWinn's Facial Polishing Gel, and I've been using it every day since then.

It's a really nice "scrubby" scrub, which feels gritty, but is still gentle on your skin. I've certainly been feeling a lot cleaner since I started using it. That lovely clean feeling that comes with freshly exfoliated skin.

Thursday review: Skinmiso Pore Beauty Nose Packs

 In my bellabox this month, I received a trial pack of Skinmiso nose packs (enough for one use), and because it's a Korean product, and the trend in Korea is for porcelain skin, I was keen to get a look at this product and see how it performed.
So it's basically a two step process, with a little bit of exfoliation in between. You put on mask number 1 for 10 minutes, remove it and use the stick-thingee to exfoliate and remove excess sebum, and then use mask number two for 10 minutes, remove it and rub in the extra goop that it leaves on your face.

The verdict? I am immediately heading to www.bellabox.com.au to order a full size product (10 sets). It has left my skin looking and feeling like silk, and I'm truly amazed at the results!

Friday Review: Olay Regenerist Micro Sculpting cream

I recently received a sample of Olay Regenerist Micro Sculpting Cream, and I have to say, for a free sample, it's amazingly packaged. The big picture here is the proper full size packaging, but the little one I have looks very similar. It's a 14g sample, which will last me probably a week of morning and night application.

So, what do I think of the product? Actually I really like it. The first thing that struck me about it was the scent, which is really quite sweet and fruity, but not in a gross overpowering way. The texture of the cream is great, too. It's not greasy at all, and a little bit went a long way. It feels lovely on my skin and many hours later, my skin felt hydrated. The areas I had concentrated on with the application feel more taut and toned, so it really does what it claims to do.

Review Thursday: Aum lifting face serum

Today I tried out a new product and I'm already hooked! Aum Anti Age organics specialize in age-defying skin care products, derived from organic ingredients.

Their Lifting Face Serum is amazing. With Papaya's antioxidant properties, and marine botanicals to even out skin tone and fade away dark spots, I could feel it working as soon as I applied it. My skin felt firmer, plumper and more hydrated, and truly I feel like I've had a mini facelift right now.

The serum is very light in texture, almost watery, rather than sticky or thick. I much prefer a thinner consistency, that absorbs easily into the skin, so this is ideal.

I really love the feel and look of my skin after using this lifting serum. It's even lifted and smoothed my under eye bags, which is awesome!

Recently, I received a sample of Dermalogica's Daily Microfoliant with a magazine purchase, and I've been using it every other day since then. For a little sample, it really has gone a long way, which tells me that the full size product is definitely value for money.

It's a powder that you shake out into your hand, add just a tiny bit of water to it, then use it like a scrub. I've been using mine (and storing it) in the shower, and the powder is still perfect, despite the humidity, which is awesome!

When I use it, I give my face a good wash first, then scrub with this product, and after that, my skin feels so clean! It works like an exfoliating scrub, just on a smaller scale, so that it is safe and gentle enough to use every day to slough away dead skin cells and other impurities.

I'd certainly recommend this product, and will be out to buy the full size product as soon as my sample size runs out!

Review: Biore skin care

For a while now, I've been using several products from Biore that seem to be keeping my skin really nice and healthy, so I wanted to share them with you.



On the days that I wear makeup, I find the taking off to be such a pain at the end of the day, but I know that it's really important for keeping my skin clear and clean, so I like to use the Biore Gentle Makeup removing wipes, which smell so fresh and fruity and really easily clean away all of my makeup. I buy a pack of these wipes every other week because they are so handy and versatile.





Every morning in the shower, I use Biore Pore Unclogging facial scrub, which really leaves me feeling super clean before I apply my sunscreen and makeup. I was given a tube of this scrub and loved it so much that I replaced it when it ran out and continue to use it on a daily basis.





Whilst researching for this post, I stumbled across this awesome little resource on the Biore website which I really think is worth mentioning.
